What Are Diaphragm Valves?

How Do Diaphragm Valves Work?
Diaphragm valves operate on a simple principle with a design centered around two key components: the diaphragm and the solenoid.
The diaphragm is a thin flexible rubber piece which separates the valve body into an upper and lower cavity while sealing the valve outlet. In the closed position, the diaphragm seals the valve's main outlet allowing air pressure to build in the upper and lower cavities. When the solenoid is energized, air from the upper cavity is quickly exhausted reducing the air pressure in the upper cavity. This creates a pressure difference between two cavities and allows the diaphragm to be pushed up, opening the outlet of the valve and creating the pulse of air.
